Kol Tzedek invites the community to “Piyyutim and Niggunim: Singing and Placing” with Cantor George Mordecai at the Calvary Center for Community & Culture, 815 South 48th St., Philadelphia. 19143

Piyyutim are religious poems set to music from Sephardic and Judeo-Arabic traditions. We will explore ways that these beautiful prayer songs from a range of Jewish traditions can expand our prayer practice and expand the senses of our Jewish geographies.

Cantor Mordecai, a celebrated musician and community leader, is currently the cantor of Temple Beth El in Stamford, Conn.

Program fee: $7 to $10. No one turned away
