Mark your calendars for a historic celebration of Israel Independence Day on Sunday, May 19, 2013. We will kick-off the daylong party at 11:15 a.m. with a gala parade from Eakins Oval, an opportunity for the entire community to march, sing and show their pride in our Jewish homeland.
Community schools, synagogues, businesses, arts, cultural, civic, sports and other organizations are encouraged to showcase how their group views its particular connection with Israel. Bus transportation will be available for participating school groups.
The parade will proceed to the Pennsylvania Convention Center, where the entire community can “Experience Israel” in 125,000 square feet of space devoted entirely to showcasing Israeli arts and crafts, culture, music, technology and much more.
This will be Federation’s first-ever indoor celebration of Israel Independence Day. Everyone can enjoy an amazing line-up of entertainment on two stages, including Israeli dancing; Krav Maga; building a giant K’NEX Israeli flag; Israeli crafts, wines and foods; cooking demonstrations; children’s activities; and some special surprises.
Please save May 19, 2013, for this important celebration of Israel’s 65th year of independence.
