Last Call for Farmers' Markets

Winter is here! Last Sunday, my sister, nephew and I went to Headhouse Market, a farmers' market run by The Food Trust at 2nd and Lombard Streets. The changing of the seasons at the market means apples, butternut squash, romanesco cauliflower and other fall harvest goodies.

Eating seasonally definitely has its benefits. Take apples, for example. Two of my favorite vendors are Three Springs [1] and Beechwood Orchards [2]. Both orchards have been family run and operated for over five generations! Even better, they offer so many varieties: macoun, honey crisp, gingergold … All beautiful colors and flavors!

Farmers’ markets typically close for the season after Thanksgiving (next week!), so if you can, venture to yours this weekend.

An apple a day,
