DORIS FRIEDMAN, age 89, of Jenkintown, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on October 12, 2013. She was born in Brooklyn, New York on August 12, 1924 to JOHANAN and FRANCIS KOLKOWITZ. DORIS graduated from Temple University with a major in Elementery Education and a minor in Art from the Tyler School of Art. She was married to MAURICE (MUSH) FRIEDMAN in 1946. They were married for 63 years until MAURICE'S death in 2009. DORIS taught in The Philadelphia School District until 1955. She was a member of The American Jewish Congress, Shirley Gettlin Chapter for many years. She was a talented artist who enjoyed sculpting and exhibiting her work at local shows. As a member of Artist's Equity, those shows included: The Oreland Art Center, Cheltenham Center for the Arts, Germantown Academy, and The Woodmere Art Museum.
She is survived by two sons, SETH (SUE) of Chalfont, PA and JOSH (AMY) of Nashua NH, and 5 grandchildren, MICHELLE FRIEDMAN of Washington, DC, KACEY FRIEDMAN of Columbia, SC, DANA FRIEDMAN of Chalfont, PA, and LAUREN & JORDAN FRIEDMAN, both of Nashua, NH. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Jewish National Fund, 2100 Arch Street, 3rd Floor, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania 19103 or to a charity of the donor's choice is requested.
