Rabbi David Teutsch from the RRC will facilitate this event, which includes transgender RRC student Jacob Lieberman and transgender ally RRC student Jessica Rosenberg. The discussion will explore the changing face of the Jewish community, ethical issues around inclusion of transgender Jews, and an exploration of the relationship of transgender and Jewish identity. Ethics and core issues in Judaism will be explored. 10th grade confirmation students and adults are welcome. Assistance is still needed to bring bagels and set up beforehand for coffee, tea. etc. This event is free and open to the adult public.
While many of our communities recognize the value of being welcoming to gays, lesbians, and bisexuals, there is less discus- sion about transgender individuals — the ‘T’ of ‘LGBT.’ Or Ha- dash is proud to present an important discussion on Transgender in the contemporary American Jewish community. This is a chance to clear up misconceptions about this often misunder- stood and sensationalized state, to hear about issues important to transgender Jews, and learn how we can make our community more welcoming and supportive to all.
Join us for a panel discussion on Transgender and Jewish Identity with Rabbi David Teutsch, director or RRC’s Center for Jewish Ethics, and RRC students Jacob Lieberman and Jessica Rosenberg
