This symposium will provide a thought-provoking assessment of the contemporary state of the national Jewish community and insights into the future of American Jewry. The symposium will feature three prominent Jewish scholars: Rabbi Bradley Shavit Artson, Chair of the Ziegler School of Rabbinic Studies at the American Jewish University in Los Angeles, who will address “The Place of Faith in the Life of the Modern Jew: A God You Can Believe In, A Commandment You Can Respond To”; Los Angeles-based Rabbi Sharon Brous, named by Newsweek as top among the fifty most influential American rabbis in 2013, who will present “Reanimating and Redefining a Holy Community”; and Dr. Steven M. Cohen, Professor of Jewish Social Policy at Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion, who will speak about “Major Trends in American Jewry Today: Diversity, Fluidity, and Hybridity.” A catered buffet lunch will be available for a nominal prepaid cost of $15.00.
