Individuals across the spectrum of disability live active and productive lives when they have access to the individualized support services they need. Ms. Wall Cote, the parent of a young man living with Autism, is also a Licensed Social Worker and policy maker overseeing the development of groundbreaking models of service and support. Her personal and professional experiences make hers an important voice in disability advocacy.
Ms. Wall Cote will discuss the challenges faced by individuals with Autism, their families, and the professionals and systems endeavoring to support them. She will address the obstacles and successes which led to the establishment of the nation's first state-level Autism Bureau.
The Fran Kane Memorial Lecture is established in memory of Fran Kane z”l , a long time employee of JFCS and one of the founding Care Managers for Senior Horizon. The conference is supported by Natalie Packel, Fran’s sister. The purpose of this lecture is to facilitate continuing education for staff.
