Minyan Sulam Yaakov at the Gershman Y and The Arbel Chorale combine to present a very special service that will incorporate the music of Salomone Rossi, the trail-blazing Jewish musician and composer of the 17th century. Rossi composed the first polyphonic (multi-voiced) music for use in synagogue services. The music will be performed by the Arbel Chorale, under the direction of Robert A.M. Ross.
The service will be followed by a lunch and learn, at which Mr. Ross, the chairman of the Music Department at the Community College of Philadelphia, will also discuss the life and importance of Rossi.
The lunch is free, but reservations are needed. Please e-mail or call the minyan to reserve your spot for this unique and entertaining event!
