The weather cooperated for the second annual "Oy Vey 5K," held last month by Congregation Beth Or in Maple Glen: It was a bit overcast, not too hot and not too dry. About 250 runners and walkers participated in this benefit for two charities: Jacob's Ladder, a program run by Jewish Family and Children's Service, and the Interfaith Housing Alliance. Children had a great time making candy and balloon art, as well as running relay races and playing other active games. The event raised $7,300 to divide between the charities. Pictured above are Fareed and Nadia Mabrouk, ages 6 and 10, respectively, who were the second-place winners in the boy and girl under-12 category.
