Philadelphia businesswoman Robin Weissman is reportedly contemplating a run against freshman Rep. Mike Fitzpatrick (R-District 8) in next year's congressional elections.

According to Ramona Oliver, a spokeswoman for Emily's List, which supports women candidates in legislative races, the Democrat has held several conversations with the organization.

The Web site recently reported that Weissman is postponing a decision for a couple of weeks to determine whether she has the funds necessary to mount a run for the House of Representatives.

Fitzpatrick was elected to represent the 8th District, which comprises Bucks County and parts of Northeast Philadelphia, in November after Republican Jim Greenwood stepped down.

Because of his pro-life stance on abortion, Democrats see Fitzpatrick as a vulnerable incumbent.
