Piracy

April 18, 2013 7:30 PM

Rodney Hall, speaker -

Seaborne piracy against transport vessels remains a significant issue (with estimated worldwide losses of US $13 to 16 billion per year) particularly in waters between the Red Sea and the Indian Ocean and also in the Strait of Molucca and Singapore. A recent surge in piracy off the Somali coast spurred a multi-national effort led by the U.S. in 2011 to patrol the waters near the Horn of Africa.

Rodney Hall was a member of the U.S. navy assigned to Special Operations from 1974 to 1997.
During those years he participated in operations around the world supporting not just the military but other departments of the United States government in research, intelligence, and marine operations.
