More than 400 people were in attendance when Perelman Jewish Day School celebrated its 60th anniversary with a tribute event on May 24 at Har Zion Temple in Penn Valley. Among those honored were Judy and David Wachs and their families, founders Fannie and Abe Birenbaum and their families, and past presidents.
The event raised $3.36 million for the school and nearly $1 million in EITC/OSTC scholarships. That included a $1 million matching gift from the Wachs and a $100,000 matching gift from Debra and David Magerman toward the Linda Grife Memorial Scholarship Fund in memory of an administrative team member who recently died.
