The 13th annual Party With a Purpose, hosted by Beverly Goldberg and the Friends of the American Cancer Society, recently feted Dr. Richard H. Rothman, founder of the Rothman Institute. The bash also honored the centennial
anniversary of the American Cancer Society.
Chazzan David F. Tilman, associate professor, H.L.Miller Cantorial School, Jewish Theological Seminary of America; conductor, Shir K.I., the Adult Choir of Reform Congregation Keneseth Israel in Elkins Park; and chazzan emeritus, Beth Sholom Congregation, also in Elkins Park, recently conducted Sacred Rights, Sacred Song, a commissioned piece about the clash between Israel’s religious and non-religious communities. The performance was held at the United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism centennial convention in Baltimore and featured Philadelphia professional singers and musicians comprising a choir and chamber orchestra.
Dr. Stanley A. Plotkin, professor emeritus at the Wistar Institute, will be honored with the first Caspar Wistar Award at the institute’s gala on Oct. 26. Plotkin is being saluted for more than a half-century of scientic accomplishments and research.
Jeffrey Orleans and JP Orleans have constructed the 2013 Design Home showcase, sponsored by Philadelphia Magazine for the 12th time, in the Wrenfield section of Villanova. The 8,000-square-foot showcase and open house runs from Oct. 24 to Nov. 17.

Feith recently wrote an op-ed piece for The Wall Street Journal on “A Very Productive Chemical-Weapons Attack,” about the Obama/Assad collision in American foreign policy. A senior fellow at the Hudson Institute, Feith is a former U.S. undersecretary of defense for policy, serving during the presidency of George W. Bush.
