Philadelphia World Heritage City Film Now Available in Hebrew

The film commemorating the historic designation of Philadelphia as the United States’ First World Heritage City is now available in Hebrew.

The Global Philadelphia Association, which created the film, said that “in this global world and economy, materials and collateral must be available in a variety of languages.” Hebrew is one of the eight languages in which the film is available.

The film was written and narrated by University of Pennsylvania History of Art Professor David B. Brownlee and produced and directed by filmmaker and former mayoral candidate Sam Katz. It looks at the city’s formation and development; examines the city’s leadership role in art, transportation, urban planning and medicine; and touches upon the growth of the city’s neighborhoods.

The center is an outpatient program designed to help families navigate the stages of Alzheimer’s disease and other cognitive impairments causing dementia. It will provide a clinical team of medical specialists, nurse practitioners, social workers, psychologists and therapists who work with patients and their families to develop comprehensive care plans that address both medical and social needs.

Clients also have access to other Abramson Center services, such as home care and post-hospital rehabilitation, as needed.

Michigan Jewish Prisoners File Suit for Kosher Meals

Jewish inmates in Michigan filed suit Oct. 9 in U.S. District Court claiming that the Michigan Department of Corrections is denying them kosher meals, mlive.com reported.

The suit contends that there are 50 to 100 Jewish prisoners approved for kosher meals who aren’t receiving them.

An original suit filed in 2013 on behalf of a single inmate said the corrections department’s policy “forces Jewish prisoners to eat vegan meals that are not made in a kosher manner,” according to mlive.com.
