Neal Bedein, 55, a Fixture in Israeli Tourism Industry

Neal (Nahum) Bedein, 55, who helped to coordinate activities for Philadelphians in Israel for many years, died Dec. 27, in Jerusalem.

Bedein came on aliyah in 1977 from Philadelphia, after graduating from the department of religion at Temple University. In Jerusalem, he studied at the Pardes Center for Jewish Studies and subsequently received a degree in hotel management from the Tadmor Institute.

He was a fixture in the world of tourism, and provided hotel services for 11 of Jerusalem's most prestigious hotels, including the King David Hotel, David's Citadel Hotel, the (former) Laromme Hotel, the Tower Hotel, the Sheraton-Plaza Hotel and the (former) Hilton Hotel.

He is survived by his mother, Miriam Bedein; his wife, Susan Bedein; sons Amihai Bedein, Yehezkel Bedein, Gilad Bedein and Lior Bedein; brother David Bedein; sister Helen Miller; and two granddaughters.
