Mitzvah Food Project Volunteers Needed
Requirements: Two backup delivery drivers are needed to pick up food boxes (weighing approximately 20-30 lbs.) at United Communities of South Philadelphia, Eighth Street and Snyder Avenue, on the third Tuesday of every month at 3 p.m. Distribute to recipients throughout South Philadelphia on a route that takes approximately 45 minutes. Backup volunteers will receive advance notice when regular delivery drivers are not available.
*This is a collaborative project with United Communities of South Philadelphia, Philabundance and the Commodity and Supplemental Food Program.
Requirements: One regular volunteer driver and at least two backup volunteer drivers are needed to deliver food packages (weighing approximately 15 lbs.) to recipients in South and North Philadelphia twice each month from the Jewish Community Services Building, 2100 Arch St. Time can be adjusted to accommodate the volunteers' schedules. Routes generally take 30 to 45 minutes. Backup volunteers are contacted in advance when regular volunteers are not available.
Requirements: One regular volunteer and two backup drivers are needed to pick up and deliver produce once a month to the Kaiserman JCC, 45 Haverford Ave., Wynnewood. Time and day are flexible according to the volunteers' schedules; however, produce needs to be delivered by the second Tuesday of the month. Volunteers must be able to lift 50 lbs. and transport large quantities of produce. Backup volunteers are contacted in advance when regular volunteers are not available.
