Dear Miriam,

My sister is really pretty and a great person, but I think she dresses terribly. She works in a lab, which is her excuse, and she's a student, so she doesn't have a lot of money to buy new clothes. I want to nominate her for the television show "What Not To Wear," but I'm afraid she'll be really insulted. How can I nominate her so she sees it's for her own good and not just to embarrass her?

Dear Miriam,

I just got married, and I'm debating whether or not to change my last name. While I love my hubby, I also love my family, and my last name represents a lifetime of their love and my happiness. From an ease of paperwork / benefit of future children perspective, it clearly makes sense to change my name, but I get sad when I think of saying goodbye to such a big part of me. Also, I hate hyphens. What's a girl to do?

Signed,
Mrs. Something

Dear Miriam,

My 14-year-old daughter suddenly is refusing to come to synagogue with the rest of the family. She had a beautiful Bat Mitzvah last year and has always been a great Hebrew school student.  Should I make her attend services with us or let her have this rebellion?
