Minerva A. Waldbaum, Teacher of English and French, Die​s at 100

Minerva Apple Waldbaum ("Minkie"), 100, a French and English teacher, died Dec. 12. She was a resident of Bedford County, Va.

A graduate of William Penn High School and the University of Pennsylvania, Waldbaum also attended the Sorbonne in Paris. She taught in private school, and at Central High School and the Philadelphia High School for Girls.

In addition, she helped her husband, the late Saul Waldbaum, in his career in labor law, negligence law, workers' rights and help for farmers.

She was a member of Temple Emanuel in Oak Lane.

An avid reader, Waldbaum liked to work in the garden, and studied nature and environmental issues.

She is survived by daughter Elsa Waldbaum Stern; sons Eric Waldbaum and Marc Waldbaum; and three grandchildren.
