Meet the Authors
December 9, 2012 10:00 AM
The Israel Advocacy Committee of Temple Beth Hillel-Beth El will host authors Judith Civan and Jonathan Levitan for a discussion and book signing.
Civan's new novel, Choosing, deals with the impact of the Eichmann trial and the Six Days War on a young man who is struggling with the issue of his Jewish identity. Is there a connection between the European Anti-Semitism personified in Shylock which culminated in Eichmann's Holocaust activities, and the Arab attempt to destroy Israel in 1967? We will find our answer in the story of the Muslim Brotherhood.
Levitan’s second novel, Black Fire, brings mystical elements from Jewish tradition and biblical rivalries into the present. Descendants of Moses’ chief enemies fight to find and control the Torah Keduma, God’s celestial blueprint for Creation. Much like the DaVinci Code, the mysteries of the past come rushing back to life in this violent struggle that wraps the fate of the Jewish people and Israel together.
