Martin George Binder, 81, a physician who practiced obstetrics and gynecology, died June 23. He was a resident of Hershey's Mill, West Chester, Pa.

Born in Philadelphia, Binder was a graduate of Central High School. He was drafted into the Army Medical Corps and served in Okinawa after V-J Day. After his service, he graduated from Villanova University, and later, from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. He served his residency at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, and finished at Albert Einstein Medical Center, Northern Division.

Binder practiced obstetrics and gynecology at Coatesville Hospital, later named Brandywine Hospital; Chester County Hospital in West Chester; and Paoli Hospital in Paoli, Pa.

He loved gardening, especially growing tomatoes.

Binder is survived by his wife of 56 years, Lorna Cohen Binder; daughter Suzanne Green; sons Eric Binder and Ira Binder; sister Sonia Ruby; brother Peter Binder; three grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by another brother, Samuel Binder.
