At the signature annual gathering of the Jewish Federation of Greater Philadelphia, community members will pay tribute to President Bud Newman as he completes his tenure.
This year’s Main Event honors Newman for the outstanding work he has done for the Jewish Federation and the Greater Philadelphia Jewish community. The event, an evening of elegant food, cocktails and entertainment at the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts on Nov. 15, promises to be a unique celebration of the Jewish Federation’s impact.
Newman’s tenure began with a major change for the Jewish Federation, the arrival of CEO Naomi Adler. Together, Newman and Adler set a goal of making the Jewish Federation a more inclusive place. Community engagement became one of their highest priorities, and they dedicated themselves to building or rebuilding partnerships with individuals and organizations throughout the community. The strong, inclusive, engaged community we enjoy today is the result.
Under Newman’s leadership, the Jewish Federation’s financial resources have grown, and dollars have been strategically invested in programs that most effectively address the community’s needs. A strong professional team has been put in place. The Jewish Federation has evolved to fulfill Newman’s vision: It is the central convener, connector and strategic partner of the Jewish community in Philadelphia, in Israel and around the world.
What makes the honoree truly unique is the passion he has inspired in staff, donors and volunteers, including the Main Event’s co-chairs, Hallee and David Adelman and Rebecca and Ben Kirshner. “It’s a wonderful community gathering,” said Rebecca Kirshner, a Women’s Philanthropy board officer. “Hundreds of community members come out to support the Jewish Federation. Everyone will want to celebrate the wonderful work that Bud has done. He is truly a role model.”
There will be no minimum Jewish Federation gift required and no solicitations will be made at the event. For event information, visit jewishphilly.org/mainevent or call 215-832-0843. Stay tuned for announcements about speakers and entertainment.
