Lisa Hostein has been the executive editor of the Jewish Exponent since January 2009. She also began her career at the Exponent in the mid-1980s. In between, she served nearly 15 years as the editor of JTA, the international Jewish news agency based in New York.
She has traveled extensively around the world, exploring and writing about Jewish communities in places such as Turkey, Tunisia, Russia, India, the former Yugoslavia and Argentina.
A graduate of Swarthmore College, Lisa has received numerous journalism awards from the Society of Professional Journalists, the Pennsylvania Newspaper Association and the American Jewish Press Association, which also named her as a recipient of the Award for Distinguished Service to Jewish Journalism.
Under her leadership, the Jewish Exponent has been named the best non-daily newspaper in the State of Pennsylvania and in the City of Philadelphia.
