Lila S. Kroser, 72, Family Physician, Led Medical Society
Dr. Lila Stein Kroser, 72, president of the Pennsylvania Medical Society, died Nov. 9 at Temple University Hospital after a brief illness. She was a resident of Boothwyn.
Born, raised and educated in Philadelphia, Kroser was a longtime member and past president of the Philadelphia County Medical Society.
A cum laude graduate of Temple University, she earned her medical degree from the Woman's Medical College of Pennsylvania, which is now Drexel University College of Medicine. She was clinical assistant professor in the Department of Family Medicine at MCP Hahnemann, where she was also a past president of their Alumni Association.
She was active with numerous community health-care projects, including the Philadelphia County Medical Society Block Captain Health Care Advisory Council.
Kroser held many leadership positions in the Philadelphia County Medical Society/Pennsylvania Medical Society. She was also a past president of the Pennsylvania Academy of Family Physicians; the American Medical Women's Association; and the Medical Women's International Association.
She was involved in international workshops and lectureships for many years, and led medical groups to Russia, Central Asia and China. The president of South Korea, as well as government leaders in Thailand, the Philippines and Australia, hosted her.
She was also the recipient of many awards and honors.
Kroser is survived by her husband of more than 49 years, Dr. Albert Kroser; daughters Dr. Joyann Kroser and Marla J. Lerner; son Dr. Jonathan Kroser; and four grandchildren.
