June Robbins (née Rocklin), wife of the late Melvin Robbins, celebrated her 91st birthday Sept. 20 at WEL Main Line, in Media. She is the mother of seven, grandmother of 18, and great-grandmother of eight with one on the way in November.
On Labor Day, at the Liberty Bell, Robbins participated in international bell-ringing in honor of Rosie the Riveters, and was honored by Mayor James Kenney, the Philadelphia Commission for Women and the Girl Scout Robotics Patrol from Delaware County.
Robbins, who was a “Rosie” during World War II as a draftsman at the Philadelphia Navy Yard and a USO volunteer, is a member of the National Rosie the Riveter Association and “Thanks, Plain and Simple.” She is active in the Senior Community Services Clowns, and volunteers her face-painting at events in the community. She participated in the 2017 Delco Senior Games, where she won several medals in her events. Robbins is active in WEL’s theater group, doing Guys and Dolls.
