Action Reconciliation Service for Peace, founded in the 1960s by German Protestants, sends young German volunteers to 13 countries each year where they help the kind of people who were persecuted during the war — Jews, minority groups, the disabled, homosexuals — in an effort to atone for the genocide committed by the Nazis.
