Letter to the Editor: In Support of Cheltenham Alum Benjamin Netanyahu

1

It was troubling to see that a group of current Cheltenham High School students submitted a petition seeking to have Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu removed from the Cheltenham High School Hall of Fame (News article, July 31). It was not surprising as most of those students probably know very little about the approximate 150 years of violence and war by Arabs in the Middle East upon Jews in the land of Israel and then the state of Israel, including the barbaric attacks and hostage taking on Oct. 7.

The cluelessness of those students plus a media bias and additional things the students are exposed to make their ignorance (especially about how Israel has to fight terrorists who embed themselves within civilian areas) easily exploited by students and others who are hostile or hateful toward Jews and Israel.

Rather than removal or condemnation added to his Hall of Fame listing, Prime Minister Netanyahu should be applauded for his unflinching and resolute leadership while leading Israel in this war forced upon it. It is a necessary war to destroy the terrorist leadership, terrorist army, weapons and infrastructure of Hamas as best and thorough as possible and be reminded that a Hamas representative stated months ago that they would do Oct. 7 “again, again and again.”

  1. The easy, lazy answer is to demonize Benjamin Netanyahu. The hard way is to dig out the facts and oppose the leftist zeitgeist. This could have been a real learning experience for these kids and an appreciation for what Netanyahu has done for his country and the West.
