Mr. and Mrs. Jack Marshall of Huntingdon Valley announce the engagement of their son, Justin Steven Marshall, to Kathryn Holmes, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Gregory Holmes, of Mary-ville, Tenn.

Kathryn, a graduate of Mary-ville High School and Goucher College in Baltimore, earned a master's degree in creative writing from the New School. A freelance writer and editor, she has performed with several New York-area dance companies and choreographers.

Justin is a graduate of Abington High School and holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Rutgers University. He is an interactive art director for Scholastic, Inc., as well as a freelance design consultant.

The couple is planning a November 2011 wedding in Brooklyn.
