Henna Workshop

July 14, 2013 10:00 AM-1:00 PM

For thousands of years henna (a temporary stain for the skin that typically lasts from a few days to a few weeks) has been used to decorate and heal the body. It is mentioned in the Bible and has been used especially by Sephardic Jews. Recently henna has been used to celebrate not only weddings, but other life-cycle events like the Bat and Bar Mitzvah and pregnancy. Henna is a great way of connecting and "playing" with family and friends. It has been called a good luck charm - a "blessing" upon the skin, that can be enjoyed by women and men alike.

Learn how to make your own Henna paste from all natural ingredients, draw traditional designs and create your own, with artist Gina Gruenberg. Kids 10 & up are welcome, as long as they are accompanied by an adult. $45 per person or take the class with a relative or friend and pay just $40 per person

Fee includes all necessary materials and even a tube of henna to take home. Snacks provided too! Advanced registration necessary. Space is limited. Contact Elana Shaw at 215.844.1507 X19 or [email protected] to register.
