H. Donald Busch, 74, Attorney Who Owned Budco Movie The​aters

H. Donald Busch, 74, a physicist, lawyer and businessman who established legal precedents that shaped the distribution of motion pictures, died July 12 at Penn Hospice at Rittenhouse. He was a resident of Philadelphia; Ventnor, N.J.; and Boca Raton, Fla.

Busch owned Budco Movie Theaters, now part of AMC Theaters, and served as chairman of the National Organization of Theater Owners.

A community leader, Busch devoted time to the American Civil Liberties Union and served as president of the Abington School Board.

He was a generous donor to many charities, as well as an avid supporter of the State of Israel.

He graduated from Central High School, and earned both his undergraduate and law degrees from the University of Pennsylvania on full academic scholarships.

Busch is survived by his wife, the former Sondra Shlomchik; daughters Amy Beccone, Lauren Jabbour and Hillary Mongeau; stepdaughters Janice Birenbaum, Wendy Klein and Cindy Durst; stepson Adam Koppel; and 14 grandchildren.
