Frannie and Scott Gordon of Holland, Pa., and Harriet Hoch-man of Philadelphia announce the engagement of their children, Ilissa Joy Gordon and Phillip David Hochman. Philip is the son of the late Bruce Hochman.

Ilissa is a graduate of West Chester University and Gratz College, where she earned bachelor's and master's degrees in education, as well as an ESL specialist certificate. She is a fourth-grade teacher at the Sharon Hill School in Sharon Hill, Pa. Ilissa has taught English to underprivileged children around the world.

Phillip is also a graduate of West Chester University and Gratz College, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in kinesiology and a master's degree in education. He is teaching health and physical education at Central Bucks East High School. He is also a professor at Gratz College and Delaware Valley College.

Joining in the couple's happiness are sisters Carly and Blair Gordon; grandparents Ida Gordon and Marcia Gollis; and Uncle Alan Gollis; along with friends and the rest of both families.

Ilissa is the granddaughter of the late Isadore Gordon and Marty Gollis, and the great-granddaughter of the late Irene Wagner. Phil is the grandson of the late Max and Ida Brand, and Max and Lillian Hochman.

The couple is planning a July 2011 wedding.
