DR. NATHAN D. FIELD, a long-time resident of Elkins Park, passed away on Friday, June 27, 2014, at age 88. He is survived by his loving wife ANNETTE with whom he cherished 64 years of marriage; beloved father to REESHA (DAVID) LEONE, MARTIN (LORI) FIELD, SARA (STEPHEN) CZARECKI; adored grandfather to ZOE, HARRY, AVA, and CALI ROSE. DR. FIELD, a first-generation American, was born in New York City. He served in the U.S. Army Air Force in the Aleutians. He received his Ph.D. in Polymer Chemistry in 1956 from Brooklyn Polytechnic University and had a rich career in both industry and academia. He held over 45 U.S. patents and many foreign patents. He was a full professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering at the City University of New York, as well as Adjunct Professor of Chemistry at Brooklyn Polytechnic, Rutgers, and Temple Universities. He retired in 1990 as Vice President of Research and Development at Dartco Manufacturing, having held prior positions at DuPont, Atlantic Refining, GAF, and International Playtex. DR. FIELD was also an avid student and teacher of early Jewish history and enjoyed many other creative and cultural pursuits. DR. FIELD was a member of Congregation Keneseth Israel in Elkins Park. Graveside services were held at Beth David Cemetery in Elmont, NY. Donations in his memory may be made to the charity of your choice.
