Historical Developmental Patterns of African American Jewry

Rabbi Earl Bowen Jr. Associate Rabbi at Congregation Temple Beth El will speak about the history of African American Jews and examine whether they are a separate community or part of a larger Jewish community. Rabbi Bowen will discuss his synagogue’s history and the role African American Jews play in Jewish and minority social and political arena. This lecture is part of Golden Slipper Gems summer series.
