Dr. Edward D. Davis of Chester, New York, died February 8, 2013. Son of the late William and Ella Davis of Philadelphia. Survived by a sister Etta (the late Benson B.) Kessler, a niece, Susan K. Apter (Alan) and a nephew, Mark D. Kessler (Katie), also survived by a great niece and three great nephews.
Dr. Davis was a graduate of Central High School - Class 196. He further graduated from the University of Pennsylvania and the University of Chicaage, where he received both his Masters and PhD degrees. He was a National Science Foundation scholar (Cornell University). Dr. Davis taught mathematics at Purdue University, Yale University and the University of Chicago, before coming to teach at the State University of New York-Albany, from which he retired. He was a both a philanthropist and opera lover.
