June 2, 2013 11:00 AM-6:00 PM

On Sunday, June 2, 2013, in collaboration with Gift of Life Organ Donor Program, the Congregation M’kor Shalom campus in Cherry Hill, New Jersey will kick-off the Congregation’s year-long 40th Birthday celebration with its popular music festival, M’korstock. Guests are welcome to bring blankets and chairs to enjoy a full day of outdoor fun with the community as it will be flourishing with fabulous arts and sounds of music. The event is located at 850 Evesham Road, Cherry Hill, NJ 08003, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The daylong event will comprise of vendors and entertainment of all kinds, including something new this year – the Avalon String Band, with a food court by Kuzina by Sofia and a marketplace filled with vendors selling jewelry, home goods and children’s items. In addition, there will be a children’s area complete with performances and activities. There will be a continuous shuttle from the free, nearby parking site with handicap and drop-off on site. The event is open to the public and performances and Children’s area will move inside in the event of bad weather. There will a Main Stage, and a children’s area.

Here is the schedule of musical performances (subject to change):

11 A.M. - The School of Ruach Youth Choir

11:15 A.M. - Izzy

Noon – Larry the Hat Man (Children’s Area)

12:30 P.M. – Bug Lady (Children’s Area)

12:30 P.M. - Eric Komar

1:30 P.M. - Chana Rothman

2:30 P.M. – Hannah Spiro

3:45 P.M. – The Unity Choir

5 P.M. – Headliner Peter Yarrow

6:15 P.M. – Special Peter Yarrow Reception

The headliner is Peter Yarrow of Peter, Paul & Mary fame. Peter’s music and songs resonate with a history that he and his musical compatriots, Mary and Paul, not only helped to write, but one that has changed and inspired millions to continue to keep on keeping on, hold firm to principle, and not be deterred in the face of adversity. His performances create an environment in which a sense of reassuring commonality is shared at a time when society is deeply concerned for its welfare and its future. Significantly, Peter’s success with “Puff the Magic Dragon” led to the publishing of four other children’s books including his self-penned late-60’s hit, “Day Is Done” which, like “Puff” reached the #1 spot in Publisher’s Weekly. Peter also released three children’s songbook collections: “Favorite Folk Songs”, “Sleepytime Songs” and “Let’s Sing Together”, each with 12 illustrated songs and a CD.

In a unique collaboration, Congregation M’kor Shalom, the vibrant 750 family non-profit reform synagogue in Cherry Hill, NJ, has invited the Gift of Life Donor Program to be their partner, sharing the proceeds from ticket sales. The Gift of Life Donor Program is the non-profit agency serving the eastern half of Pennsylvania, southern New Jersey and Delaware that is responsible for recovering and distributing organs and tissues used in life-saving and life-enhancing transplants. Partners throughout the year, Gift of Life speakers educate M'kor Shalom congregants and students about organ donation, and M'kor Shalom gets involved in the Gift of Life Dash each April with a "M'korstock" Team.

This one-of-a-kind festival, M’korstock is being planned to attract guests of all ages with expected attendance from Southern and Central New Jersey, the Philadelphia area and Delaware. Funding has been made possible in part by the Camden County Cultural & Heritage Commission at Camden County College, through the New Jersey State Council on the arts/department of state, a partner agency of the National Endowment of The Arts.
