Summer breeze — what better accompaniment to a tour of beautiful homes by the seashore?

That's exactly what those who signed up for the 28th annual Jewish Family Service of Atlantic and Cape May Counties’ House Tour enjoyed during their recent jaunt through Absecon Island, N.J., featuring homes in Ventnor, Margate and Longport.

Some of the homes with the open-door policy were palatial in scope, others more down-to-earth with spectacular views and enviable locations.

It was all for a good cause, of course. The tour raised $54,000 for Village by the Shore, a JFS project designed to provide referrals, care coordination, transporation and activities to adults 50 years of age and above living independently in their communities. Over the years, the event has brought a total of about $1 million to the project.
