Rabbi Seymour Rosenbloom
Rabbi Seymour Rosenbloom, who is retiring from Congregation Adath Jeshurun in Elkins Park, will be saluted by the synagogue’s Women’s Association with its 5774 Torah Fund Person of Achievement Award on March 23. The award is being presented to the rabbinical leader on behalf of the Jewish Theological Seminary of America.
Meryl Diamond Gindin of Bala Cynwyd has been chosen to serve on the national board of directors of the National Council of Jewish Women.
The Katz JCC of Cherry Hill will fete Cookie Till, owner of Steve & Cookies restaurant in Margate, for her commitment to community, including her work with the urban garden-oriented A Work in Progress. The gala is set for March 22 at the Pier Shops in Caesars in Atlantic City.
Dr. Robert Orsher, who owns the Veterinary Specialty and Emergency Centers in Levittown and South Philadelphia, where he serves as chief of surgery, has been named to the board of the Philadelphia Animal Welfare Society.
Dr. Herman Axelrod, former executive director of the Greentree School, has been named a trustee of Louie’s Voice, an autism advocacy agency.
Mindy Shemtov, whose communal commitment has included serving as executive director and co-founder, the Alcove Center for Grieving Children and Families in Northfield, N.J., will be inducted into the Atlantic County Women’s Hall of Fame on March 20. Ceremonies will be held at the Linwood County Club in Linwood, N.J.
Jewish matchmaking maven Aleeza Ben Shalom of Philadelphia was recently interviewed on Here & Now, a program on National Public Radio, about her special talents.
Dr. Robert Kotloff, chief of the Section of Advanced Lung Disease and Lung Transplantation at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, is leaving after nearly a quarter-century to serve as chair of the pulmonary medicine department at the Cleveland Clinic. 
Dr. Marshall Z. Schwartz, surgeon-in-chief at St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children, has been designated vice chairman, Academic Affairs and Affiliations, surgery department, at the Drexel University College of Medicine. He also recently was dubbed an honorary fellow by the Royal College of Surgeons of England.
