Elaine and Todd Chonofsky of Lower Merion, and Susan and Jules Markowitz of Philadelphia announce the engagement of their children, Michelle Chonofsky and Andrew Markowitz.
Michelle graduated from the University of Delaware and is pursuing a master's degree in social work at the Silberman School of Social Work at Hunter College in New York City.
Andrew, a graduate of Temple University, is a first-year rabbinical student at the Jewish Theological Seminary of America in New York City.
Sharing in the couple's joy is Michelle's sister, Karen.
Michelle is the granddaughter of Betsy Tabas and the late Stanley Tabas, and the late Marcia and Joseph Chonofsky. Andrew is the grandson of Morris Lowenthal and the late Sonia Lowenthal, and the late Doris and Albert Markowitz.
The couple, who met in high school while serving on both the USY regional board and regional general board together, began their relationship a few years later while on the same staff at Camp Ramah in the Poconos.
They are planning a November wedding in Lower Merion.
