Pretty Bird Coffee is not your typical coffee shop. For one, it sells smashburgers, fries and milkshakes under the same roof as its sister store, Pretty Burger.

And while, like many coffee shops, it carries pumpkin spice flavor drinks in the fall, it doesn’t stop there.

At Pretty Bird Coffee, you can also indulge in snickerdoodle or s’mores flavored coffee. When winter rolls around, those will be replaced by seasonal flavors, like peppermint.

“We’re always looking to add things and evolve our business here at Pretty Bird,” said the store’s assistant manager, Michael Petrino.

For Pretty Bird, finding the best coffee to brew and serve is a never-ending project.
“It’s kind of an ongoing process,” Petrino said. “We’re always looking to improve the quality and keep interest high. For example, our single-origin [coffee] recently was a Honduran bean that we could no longer get our hands on, so we had to switch to a Nicaraguan bean. It’s ongoing to try to keep everything high quality while also keeping people interested.”

The coffee at Pretty Bird is almost exclusively available in-house, with beans coming from overseas, and the roasting, grinding and brewing all being done in the facility in Yardley. This creates a product that simply can’t be mimicked. Not to mention, you can get your coffee however you like it.

“We have a variety of options, from a light roast to a house blend all the way to our espresso, and we use them for a variety of uses, including drip coffee, cold brew, espresso and decaf,” Petrino said.

At Pretty Bird, the service is great and the variety is unique, but it all comes back to a simple fact: The coffee is really, really good.

Petrino may be biased, but he’s also had a lot of coffee in his life.

“Just speaking from personal experience drinking our coffee, I find it incredibly smooth and easy to drink. You don’t get a lot of that harsh kind of flavor that a lot of people are used to with coffee, especially from big chains that have that kind of almost burnt flavor. I think we have a much more smooth, high-quality product,” he said.
