When it comes to throwing an event, there are a lot of details to consider. At Har Zion Temple in Penn Valley, all those details are carefully taken care of.
Take, for example, the congregation’s recent centennial celebration. Sure, it was an in-house event, but it demonstrated the lengths that the Har Zion team will go to. The celebration, held in May, accommodated hundreds of guests and included a dinner and show featuring comedian and actor Howie Mandel. It was a hit, said Har Zion’s Director of Marketing Michael Greenspoon.
“We were able to use the ballroom for the social part of the event, and then were able to sit in the sanctuary to watch the show and afterwards have an after-party that really characterized all the things that made up our centennial,” he said. “We had an amazing turnout, and we really showcased the venue.”
Greenspoon said that the centennial, like other events, was a good opportunity to show off the facilities at Har Zion, which are well equipped to handle crowds.
“Our building is beautiful; it’s accessible; and we have an amazing staff and team that are able to turn the venues around quickly. We have great relationships with Jewish organizations in the area, and everybody feels comfortable here,” he said.
The synagogue is able to be so effective in part because of its events team, which works together to make sure everything goes off without a hitch. Greenspoon said everyone contributes.
“A big part of that is our executive director, Gavi Miller. The way he runs events is great, and everybody usually has a great time here and at the functions,” Greenspoon said.
