Bernard and Marion Wilen

Bernard and Marion Wilen of Wynnewood marked their 65th wedding anniversary by commissioning and donating a Holocaust menorah to Main Line Reform Temple, Beth Elohim in Wynnewood. Several hundred people attended when the menorah -- lit by the Wilens' children and grandchildren -- was dedicated at the Yom Hashoah service on April 15. They are Dennis Wilen of Bel-Air, Calif.; Barry and Robin Frantz Wilen, and their son, Ari Marc, of Bala Cynwyd; and Terry and Amy Buckman, and their sons, Jason, William and Micah, also of Bala Cynwyd. In honor of their anniversary, the Wilens also procured a Torah from the Holocaust Torah Trust, and their oldest grandson read from it when he became a Bar Mitzvah.

Bernard Wilen, a World War II veteran, is the longtime owner of Wilensky Hardware in South Philadelphia. Marion, a former president of the Jewish Community Relations Council and American Jewish Congress, was instrumental in introducing a Holocaust curriculum to Pennsylvania schools.
