Authors of 'Jewish Jocks'

The Free Library of Philadelphia will host authors Franklin Foer and Marc Tracy for a discussion of their book Jewish Jocks: An Unorthodox Hall of Fame. A panel discussion will feature contributors David Plotz and Mark Leibovich. The event is free.
Jewish Jocks: An Unorthodox Hall of Fame is a collection of essays about influential Jewish athletes, coaches, broadcasters, team owners, and trainers, including Howard Cosell, Art Shamsky, Kerri Strug, and Sandy Koufax. Contributors include New Yorker editor David Remnick; novelists Jonathan Safran Foer, Shalom Auslander, and Booker Prize winner Howard Jacobson; sports writer Buzz Bissinger; economist Larry Summers; and columnist David Brooks.
Franklin Foer is The New Republic's editor-at-large and a Schwartz Fellow at the New America Foundation. He is the author of the bestselling book, How Soccer Explains the World: An Unlikely Theory of Globalization. Marc Tracy is a staff writer at Tablet magazine, and his blog The Scroll won a 2011 National Magazine Award.
