Who better to be Making Sense of Autistic Spectrum Disorders than one who's devoted his career to examining them? That's Dr. James Coplan, formerly of Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and now in private practice in the burbs, whose book on the topic comes out in April, which is National Autism Awareness Month. But before then comes a book launch on Thursday, March 25 at the Philadelphia Marriott West in West Conshohocken.

When Irish eyes are kvelling: MSNBC "Hardball" host Chris Matthews, one of the network's leading leprechauns, recently had an exclusive interview with Vice President Joe Biden in Israel, where Matthews, a die-hard Philadelphia native, welcomed his guest to his set with: "As they say in Northeast Philly, 'Shalom.' " Biden's kibitz of a response: "That's not what they say [to me] in Northeast Philly, and I can't repeat what they say." And "Stars" doesn't think he meant, "Have a nice day."
