Celebrating Life -- and Longevity
July 02, 2009 - Michael Elkin, Arts & Entertainment EditorJudith Bernstein (center) was all alone in the race for excellence as she was honored by the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure at its 13th annual "Celebrate Life!" luncheon, held at the Philadelphia Marriott. The luncheon, citing "outstanding breast-cancer survivors who are making a difference," gave its nod to Bernstein for her work as a Jewish parachaplain volunteer at Fox Chase Cancer Center. The honoree knows the turf; she herself has been treated for cancer six times. Joining her to "Celebrate Life!" are Pat Ciarrocchi (left) of CBS3, who also emceed the event, and Tina McDonnell, the cancer center's volunteer services director.
