Mr. and Mrs. Martin Ellner of Voorhees, N.J., announce the engagement of their daughter, Adena, to Michael Portnoy, son of Lois and Glenn Portnoy of Jenkintown.
Adena graduated from Drew University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in fine arts with a minor in Jewish studies. She works as a graphic designer with Broad Street Publishing in Cherry Hill, N.J.
Michael graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a Bachelor of Science degree in computer-science engineering and a Bachelor of Arts degree in mathematics. He is a manager of applications development with Bio-Imaging Technologies in Newtown.
Adena is the granddaughter of Charlotte Ellner and the late Jerome Ellner, and Esther Carpousis and the late James Carpousis. Michael is the grandson of the late Reba and Alexander Hershman, and Ruth Portnoy and the late Howard Portnoy.
The couple became engaged in Kauai, Hawaii, on Hanakapi'ai Beach, along the Kalalau Trail.
An April wedding in Cinnaminson, N.J., is planned.
