'Scene' Springs for DVDs and Movie Tickets
March 20, 2008 - Michael Elkin, Arts & Entertainment Editor
It's "Spring Cleaning" time at "On the Scene," which will thrill "Scene" contest entrants (as well as Mrs. "On the Scene").
"Scene" was emptying the drawers, and all the DVDs and movie tickets stored inside came tumbling out. Where to put them? In the hands of his fans, "Scene" readers!
Each of 10 winners will receive either a DVD or a pair of tickets to the Regal Movies.
What kinds of DVDs? Could be "The Brave One," with Jodie Foster (that's "The Brave One," not to be confused with "Braveheart" and Mel Gibson) or "Bee Movie," the stinger (actually quite good) starring the voice of Jerry Seinfeld.
Or maybe Will Farrell on ice -- figuratively speaking and skating, of course! (Or could be an oldie but goodie.)
And those tickets to the Regal are valid at any time.
To enter, e-mail your name and address to onthescene@ jewishexponent.com; place "Spring Cleaning" in the subject category. Entries must be received by noon this Sunday.
So, welcome Spring -- and "Sceners"!
And, wait, a special welcome to Arlene Snyder of Mount Laurel, N.J., winner of the 2008 "Scene-Oscar" contest. She got all the entries right -- as did a number of other readers, which meant, according to the rules and regulations, a random drawing was held to break the tie, with Arlene the winner selected.
And look what she got: a portable DVD player; a day of pampering at L'Etoile Salon in Jenkintown; 10 tickets to the Ritz theaters in Philadelphia; and DVDs of the three previous "best picture" Oscar winners.
Congrats, Arlene -- who just wrote in her appreciation with a note that this is her second time over the years as the "Scene-Oscar" winner.
Who knows, Arlene, with that track record, Hollywood may be calling!
