March 13, 2008 Tryouts for all sports in JCC Maccabi Games are now being held across the region.
The games -- in Akron, Ohio, on Aug. 11-15 and in Detroit on Aug. 17-22 -- feature male and female Jewish athletes from cities all over the United States, as well as other countries.
The 13- to 16-year-old players will compete
in soccer, tennis, swimming, dance, track, golf, baseball, basketball, softball and in-line hockey.
Along with the games, there are opening ceremonies, social outings and community-service projects.
