Give Them a Ladle, and Watch Them Simmer!
February 28, 2008 Students and parents from the Jewish Children's Folkshul hosted a "Souper Bowl Sunday" fundraiser on Feb. 24 to benefit the Jewish Federation of Greater Philadelphia's Mitzvah Food Project. The community gathered to recreate a soup kitchen, where individuals could enjoy a lunch of homemade soup and bread, prepared and donated by families. Folkshul's band, "The Mamas and the Tates," provided a backdrop of klezmer music. Proceeds from the event will be used to purchase kosher nonperishables for the Mitzvah Food Project, which last year served about 4,300 people.
