The issue’s Arts & Entertainment section led off with a profile of the Philadelphia area’s Jarrod Spector, who gained fame playing Frankie Valli on Broadway in Jersey Boys.
The diminutive Spector noted similarities he shared with the height-challenged Valli.
“There’s an Italian/Jewish closeness,” he said. “There’s also a Philly-Jersey-New York feel that I like to think I have.”
The article detailed how Spector was to perform as Valli in a tribute to The Sopranos on the upcoming Emmy Awards telecast.
Since playing Valli on Broadway, Spector duplicated that role in a national tour of Jersey Boys and also the Chicago production of it, according to broadwayworld.com.
In 2014, he earned a Tony nomination for his role in Beautiful: The Carole King Musical. And he returned home to perform at Old York Road-Temple Beth Am in November.
More recently, he appeared in a San Francisco production of the Broadway-bound Roman Holiday — The Cole Porter Musical, according to playbill.com.
